A corporate cohort in Copenhagen: change without losing the culture

This was a corporate cohort for a fast-growing consumer group in Copenhagen, running Leading Transformation across sixteen weeks for eleven senior leaders. The company had built a much-loved brand, with a warm and close-knit team, a committed founding group, and the backing of a Nordic growth fund.

The brief from the chief executive was straightforward but uncompromising: teach these leaders to run change at scale without teaching them to run the company like somebody else's. The cultural depth and the transformation demands were not separate criteria to be traded off. They were the cohort's central tension, and the design required both to be satisfied without compromise.

  • Faculty who had led change inside culture-led consumer businesses taught every residential block
  • Participants were assessed on their reasoning, their sequencing, and their handling of resistance together
  • The founding team joined the final review panel for every participant's capstone

Teaching in dialogue with the culture

The challenge was to teach transformation technique, sequencing, and coalition building inside the warmth and pace of a close-knit consumer business. Participants worked on live changes they were already accountable for, and faculty pushed on how they had built teams, made hard calls, and carried people through earlier transitions.

  • Each participant brought a live transformation and defended it to faculty at every residential block
  • Case material was drawn from Nordic organisations the cohort could visit and question directly
  • The final review assessed what actually changed in the business, not the quality of the presentation
"The culture and the change were the brief. Everything else was about designing teaching that satisfied both at once, which is the hardest part of any corporate cohort."
